Street Lighting

We are fortunate to have street lighting in our village. We have been informed by our lighting provider that as of next year they will no longer be able to replace any of the current SOX type lamps as they are no longer being manufactured. Our street lights will therefore have LED lights fitted and in some cases the lighting columns will have to be replaced. The cost to the Parish Council will be up to £10,000. We are attempting to get separate funding so that your Council Tax is not affected. We do need your help, please.

One potential source of partial funding is the Calor Rural Community Fund. Our project has been registered and we need as many people as possible to vote for the project on their web site. The Parish Council is asking that you visit the website and vote for the project, please.

To do this go to or search for Calor Community Fund in your browser. You will need to register and enter your name, email address and a password. You will then be sent an email to verify your email address. Once you have verified your email you can log in and click on “view projects and vote”. Enter Weaverthorpe in the search box and click on “go”. The details of our project will appear, click on “view project” and then you can vote. The whole process takes less than five minutes.

You can only register once, but if you can please ask other members of your family, who have a different email address to yours, or friends to vote. Voting closes on 29th June 2018.

If we are successful this will help to keep our street lights on!
