Following their recent visit to the Open Gardens Event at Weaverthorpe the ladies from Malton Museum have sent details of some events which may be of interest.

16th July – Dr Summerton introduces Roman Medicine

7.30pm, Assembly Room, Milton Rooms, Yorkersgate.

Ever wondered what was it like to be ill as a Roman living in Malton? Were there doctors? Dr Nick Summerton will be giving a talk on Roman Medicine and its relevance to modern practice. Dr Summerton is a GP in East Yorkshire with an interest in Roman Medicine and has lectured and published books on the subject. Free event.

18th July – Dr Rick Jones of Leeds University. Tours of Orchard Fields

10.30am and 2pm meet at the entrance to Orchard Fields.

Join Dr Rick Jones of Leeds University where he will explain and bring to life the living history of Malton’s Roman Fort and the lives of the soldiers and people who lived and worked there. Admission is £5 which includes a copy of ‘Roman Malton’.
