MI6 in Weaverthorpe

I have received an email from Martin Briscoe asking for information on MI6 activities in Weaverthorpe during the Second World War. Martin writes:

‘I wonder if there is anyone in Weaverthorpe with an interest or knowledge of local history?
There is a WWII direction finding station listed as being at Weaverthorpe, it was part of the Bletchley Park network. It was unusual as being in what was basically a steel water tank buried underground with four masts / pole around it on the surface. It would be very secret but wondering if anyone in the area remembers it and where it was.’

The tank was said to be around this location at SE 962 692 Dikes Field:
