Update -February 2009

A short update on projects now progressing:

Dog Mess Bins – Luttons Parish Council have allocated £750 for bins in East Lutton – 2 bins, Helperthorpe – 2 bins  and West Lutton – 4 bins.  North Yorkshire Council, Highways Department will be involved with the positioning of the bins.  The purchase of the bins is now underway.  Ryedale Council will empty the bins at no cost to the villages.

Speed Limits – Rumble strips have been laid in East Lutton and Helperthorpe and the information is to be analysed. Hopefully this will support a reduction in the speed limit from 40 to 30mph through the villages.

Bulb planting – Following an allocation of funding from Weaverthorpe Parish Council bulbs have now been planted at the entrances to that village.  The Luttons Parish Council will be asked to undertake a similar scheme in the Autumn.

Wildlife friendly gardens – A project initiation document was approved.  This can be viewed on the ’Outdoors’ area of the website

Footpaths – volunteers are to be sought to clear encroaching grass from footpaths in the villages

Website – work in setting this up is continuing.  A Focus Group has been formed, but representatives from Weaverthorpe, Helperthorpe and East Lutton are needed.

Notice Boards – This project will focus on improving the provision and use of notice and information boards in all villages.  The project will commence on 30 March 09 and will run for 1 year.  Volunteers are required.

Benches – A resident has volunteered to apply preservative to existing benches in East Lutton.
