Smoke alarm fitting and home risk assessments

Upon request, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service will carry out a home risk assessment in your home. This service is provided completely free of charge! Trained crews will come to your home to give you advice on fire safety in the home, actions you can take to reduce the risk of fire, and go through escape routes should fire occur.  The home risk assessors may also replace items in your home that may be considered as a fire hazard. The assessors may identify that you either need smoke alarms fitting in your home if you don’t already have them, or indeed replace any existing faulty alarms.  Whilst Government funds are available, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service will install alarms free of charge. However when funds dry up we may request a donation of £10 to cover the cost of the alarm and installation. Although some community groups may qualify for a free alarm
