Haverdale ... one fledged spotted flycatcher about with adults ...

07.08.2010  Helperthorpe ... two marsh harriers ... two corn bunting using borage plants as trampolines ... sort of ...

12.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... watching one marsh harrier when one steamed across filling the binoculars ... mother would not have been pleased as swore out loud ... eventually three present ...

Haverdale ... 50 swift on the move ...

13.08.2011  Haverdale ... at least five quail calling at dusk ...

14.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... calling birds included ... one quail ... one little owl ... two yellow wagtail moving thru ...

Haverdale ... one quail calling ... heard a golden plover calling though couldn&#039;t locate it ... two treecreepers were more ameniable ...

16.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... a phone call home revealed ... &#039; a neighbour has brought round a black bird ... that isn&#039;t a blackbird &#039; ... turned out to be a fledged moorhen ... huge feet ... a bird I&#039;ve not  recorded in the tetrad ... 

18.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... five quail calling ... later rumbling home from work a marsh harrier loped across the road between Butterwick and Weaverthorpe ...

19.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... countless ... literally ... swallows and house martins hawking over the fields and following in the wake of a combine ... marsh harrier about ... two quail of which got three seconds of viewing time ... 

20.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... two buzzard circling high and calling ... small parties of yellow wagtails totalled 22+ birds ... one of quail and marsh harrier ... two coveys of grey partridge literally exploded out of field edges ... some 28+ birds ... some 90 starling roosting thereabouts ...

Haverdale ... one quail in &#039;song&#039; ...

21.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... Chiff chaff contact calling ... three marsh harriers ... two golden plover ... 250 rooks feeding in the fields ...

25.08.2011 Helperthorpe ... five buzzards went from ground level to cloud base height in minutes ... then three proceeded to talon grapple ... sky dance ... wing overs and generally playing ... 14 golden plover took ages to find before their wheedling calls gave them away ... then stood almost on a quail ... ten seconds of whirring wings ... churred as it flew ... never have soft brown tones looked so interesting ...

27.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... raptor day ... marsh harrier ... sparrowhawk ... buzzard ... plus a goldcrest and four golden plover ...

28.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... three marsh harrier ... two buzzard ... at least 70 greenfinch feeding in a stubble area ... and a one off ... a bar tailed godwit passing up the valley ... couldn&#039;t get the recording gear on it quick enough ... a morning of really fantastic light ... so to speak ...

31.08.2011  Helperthorpe ... two marsh harrier ... 150 rook about ... and a very distant calling greenshank over the tops ...</description>
