Luttons Branch YCA – November meeting

The ladies of Luttons YCA enjoyed a Beetle Drive hosted by one of our members, Enid Armstrong.  Much fun, and frustration when the dice was against us, was had by all as we drew our artistic beetles.  The competition was for the best bug – either one you had brought with you or the best one on your card.  Enid laid on a super supper – meringues and cakes to die for – our special thanks to Enid for being ‘hostess with the mostest’.

Next months meeting is a trip to Castle Howard for lunch and to see the house decorated for Christmas.  If you would like to join us please give me a ring.

YCA, Weaverthorpe Branch – Oct Meeting

Alan Grundy’s photographs which illustrated his whistle stop tour of Great Britain from John O’Groats to the Lizard were stupendous  and highlighted some of the not so well known areas as well as the good old favourites.
Jane Ashby won the prize for the best holiday photo with a very vibrant photograph of her husband on top of an extremely high hill; she was a worthy winner.
The meeting agreed that we would bring things to put in shoe boxes to send to our troops to the next meeting on12th October. If anyone in the valleywould like to join us in providing and packing the shoe boxes please ring me to make arrangements. I can also provide a list of suggested items to go in the boxes
At our next meeting we will learn all about Beekeeping. The meeting will be at the Village Hall at the usual time of 7.30 on Tuesday 12th October. Ladies, if you feel you would like to come along to see what Country Women’s is all about – don’t be shy, just turn up, we will make you very welcome.

Luttons YCA Meeting – Oct 2010

The Luttons Branch of the YCA held their October meeting in the warmth and comfort of the Three Tuns Pub in West Lutton. We were joined by an Australian relative of one of the members, so this meeting had an international flavour to it!  In true YCA tradition, we turned our thoughts to Christmas and learnt how to make angel decorations for our Christmas trees. Much fun was had cutting and sticking – just goes to show we never really grow up, just give us some glue and off we go!!  The competition was the best angel and was won by Lorna Seaman who made the most glamorous angel with a sequinned skirt, second prize went to our Australian guest.  The raffle was won by Jenny Lacy and Caroline Bradshaw.  Next month’s meeting is a beetle drive, kindly hosted by Enid Armstrong.  December’s meeting will be a visit to Castle Howard which will be decorated for Christmas.  If you would like to join us on that trip just give us a call.’

YCA – Weaverthorpe Branch

Once again the fund raising event held on the 1st December was a huge success, with Sheila Meadley attracting a good attendance of members, guests and friends to her always enjoyable cookery demonstration. A substantialamount was raised for the Branch’s  funds and everybody went away clutching the recipes for such delicacies as chestnut and cranberry roll and After Eight bar.
The next meeting will be at 7.30 on Tuesday 9th February at the Village Hall. John Brown of Ryedale District Council will be talking to us about waste recycling and the environment. The competition will be a recycled item. We look forward to welcoming you all to find out about this very topical subject. New members, or even visitors who would just like to see what happens at our meetings, are always welcome.
