Spruce Up of Village Green

Weaverthorpe Parish Council have been for some time trying to finalise a make over of the Village Green to include replacing the white “birdmouth fencing” with a more sustainable alternative and changes to the play equipment and seating.

Our efforts to get NYCC Highways to agree to the type of fencing we think would look attractive, have so far not brought any agreement, but we continue to work on this.

Meanwhile the existing birdmouth fencing requires some attention including a coat of paint as a temporary measure to make the green look at it’s best for the Open Gardens on 30th June 2019. We are therefore proposing to spend a few hours on the Spring Bank Holiday on 27th May 2019. If the weather is inclement on that date, we will carry over the event to the following Saturday.

Anyone who would be willing to give their time to do some painting on that day, simply turn up at the Village Green from 09:00 onwards. If you cannot make this date and would like to contribute, donations of white gloss paint and paint brushes would be very welcome.
