Note from the warbler

Note from the warbler, Although the Warbler has a wide physical coverage, there are only 130 people on the email list. Could you all please encourage friends and neighbours to sign up to the email list. Doing so would make communication much easier at this time of crisis.

Local deliveries

Malton Delivers is a community initiative to promote local businesses who offer a delivery service of their own. This quick look directory is a way of helping local people find businesses that deliver direct to your door.

We are still seeing people drive to remote locations to take their daily exercise, walk their dogs or have “drive around to clear their head”.

I would ask those people to pause for a moment and think about this:

Yesterday whilst out shopping you picked up a can of beans, 10 minutes before you a person who had picked up the virus in the last 5 days, so wasn’t showing any symptoms, picked up the same can of beans and has now transferred the virus to you. Today you have driven and gone for a walk on the moors, on your way home your car breaks down and you have to call a recovery service now you passed the virus on the breakdown driver. Or, you have a minor RTC, the Police attend, chances are now the Officers who attend have picked up the virus along with the person who you had the RTC with. Or even worse, it’s a serious RTC, Police, Ambulance, Fire and Air ambulance have to attend all now who have the potential to be affected.

Please be part of the solution, not the problem

Please Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives.

Lisa Winward, Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police, Andrew Brodie, Chief Fire Officer of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, and Julia Mulligan, North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner have issued the following statement on new measures to stop spread of Coronavirus

“It is our job to keep North Yorkshire safe and we can only do that if you follow the instruction to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. “We know the vast majority of you have already been taking action to stop the spread of Coronavirus, and we thank you for those efforts. But some have not – and the crowds we saw in some parts of North Yorkshire this weekend illustrated that all too clearly. Now there is no ambiguity, there can be no question – if you do not need to be outside for an essential reason, to buy food or medicine or to exercise once a day, you must stay at home. Anyone who thinks this does not apply to them is putting lives at risk. North Yorkshire Police will use all powers we have to stop that, to keep us all safe and to ultimately save lives. Our emergency services will be here to protect you throughout this national emergency. We know these are unsettling times. They are unprecedented times. But across North Yorkshire we stand together, and together we’ll get through it.”

At 1.30pm Tuesday 24 March, the Public Accountability Meeting will focused on North Yorkshire’s reaction to the Coronavirus pandemic. CLICK TO WATCH

Scam Warning

Just to let you know that I have had it reported to me that there are some people – first reported in West Lutton – who are going door to door trying to sell hand gel. Obviously this may be genuine but is more likely to be a scam. Would you please use your networks to warn as many people as possible. If anyone has it confirmed would they let others know. Followed by a call to the police.
